US: EU and US hold second Security and Defence dialogue in Washington
The European Union and the United States held their second Security and Defence dialogue dialogue on 1 December in Washington DC.
The EU and the US exchanged updates on respective security and defence initiatives and policies, had substantial discussions on an array of topics of mutual interest including security assistance for Ukraine, defence industry cooperation and the situation Africa. They also agreed to continue their close cooperation in the Western Balkans. They welcomed the signing of the Administrative Arrangement between the European Defence Agency and the US Department of Defence earlier this year.
The dialogue contributed to further strengthening EU-US strategic partnership in security and defence and the transatlantic bond.
The dialogue was co-chaired by EEAS Security and Defence Director Joanneke Balfoort, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs Jacqueline Ramos, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs Liam Wasley and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Europe and NATO Spencer Boyer.
