The attacks against opposition leading figure Juan Guaidó and his team during a trip to the state of Cojedes are unacceptable. We expect a prompt investigation so that the perpetrators are brought to justice. Respecting all political and civil actors, including opposition members and journalists, is key to promote Venezuelan dialogue.

The EU recalls its firm support to all the forces standing for democracy in Venezuela. The only way out of the ongoing crisis is through a Venezuelan-led political negotiation leading to credible, inclusive and transparent presidential and parliamentary elections.
