European Higher Education Week 2025: Knowledge as driving force for innovation and sustainable development

Following the remarkable success of the 2024 edition, which welcomed nearly 5,000 participants, the European Higher Education Week 2025 returns from 1–3 November 2025, reaffirming Europe’s position as a leading destination for Vietnamese students seeking world-class education and research opportunities.

Following the remarkable success of the 2024 edition, which welcomed nearly 5,000 participants, the European Higher Education Week 2025 returns from 1–3 November 2025, reaffirming Europe’s position as a leading destination for Vietnamese students seeking world-class education and research opportunities.

This year’s event brings together nearly 70 universities and educational organizations from 18 EU Member States (Belgium - represented by both Wallonie-Bruxelles and Flanders regions, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden). Participants will have access to comprehensive information about study programs, scholarships, and research opportunities across a wide range of disciplines.

In addition to the exhibition area—featuring education programs, funding opportunities, and research initiatives—panel discussions and alumni sharing sessions will offer attendees firsthand insights into studying and thriving in Europe, where knowledge flourishes through openness, diversity, and creativity.

A key highlight within the framework of European Higher Education Week will be the Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe Day, designed to connect higher education institutions and organizations from Vietnam and Europe. This joint initiative aims to strengthen cooperation in research, innovation, and knowledge co-creation. For the first time, these two flagship EU programs will be jointly featured as part of the same event, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for educators, administrators, and institutions to network, build partnerships, and co-develop solutions for the future.

Speaking on the significance of the event, H.E. Julien Guerrier, Ambassador of the European Union to Vietnam said: “Education is the foundation of any sustainable development. In a rapidly changing world, equipping young people with the skills to adapt and innovate is key to the future. I believe that the European Higher Education Week not only offers learning opportunities but also builds bridges between the European Union and Viet Nam — two partners working together to transform knowledge into action, and action into change.”

The European Higher Education Week 2025 is organized under the campaign “Plug in to Evolution”—a flagship communication and public diplomacy initiative within the EU’s Global Gateway Strategy.

The campaign aims to promote skills development, the green transition, and sustainable cooperation through a series of creative, youth-oriented activities. As such, the Higher Education Week serves not only as a bridge linking Vietnamese students with European universities, but also as part of a broader journey to foster a spirit of learning, creativity, and co-creation for a sustainable future.

EU-Vietnam Partnership in Education

Vietnam is a key partner of the European Union in education, one of the top priorities under the Global Gateway Strategy. Currently, around 40,000 Vietnamese students are pursuing studies in EU Member States - accounting for nearly 30% of all Vietnamese students studying abroad.

The partnership between the EU and Vietnam in higher education has seen strong progress. Through the Erasmus+ programme, thousands of Vietnamese students and academics have had the opportunity to experience Europe’s diverse educational, research, and cultural environments.

In the past year, more than 100 universities from Vietnam and Europe gathered in Hanoi to explore new avenues for cooperation in research, innovation, and teaching. Across Vietnam today, there are over 430 joint training programmes with international universities, half of which are with European partners.
