European Higher Education Week returns from 8 to 11 October 2026 with a series of activities organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam and the Embassies of EU Member States to strengthen educational ties, exchanges and cooperation between the EU and Vietnam.

A highlight of the Week is the Study in Europe Fair 2026, taking place in Hanoi on 10 October and Ho Chi Minh City on 11 October. Building on the 2025 edition, which attracted more than 4,000 registrations and over 2,100 participants across the two cities, this year’s Fair will give students, parents and others interested in European education the opportunity to explore study options directly with representatives of participating institutions.

The event will bring together nearly 70 universities and higher education institutions from 17 EU Member States: Belgium (represented by Wallonia-Brussels and Flanders), Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Lithuania, Hungary, Austria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden.

Under the theme “Open Your Mind”, the Fair invites young people to explore not only study programmes, but also the possibilities that studying in Europe can open up. Experiencing different cultures, exchanging ideas and discovering new approaches to learning can broaden their perspectives and help shape their personal and professional aspirations.

Visitors will be able to meet representatives of European universities and higher education institutions to learn about study programmes, admission requirements, scholarships and research opportunities. Members of the EU Alumni Network in Vietnam (EAN) will also share their experiences of studying in Europe, adapting to multicultural environments and pursuing careers after graduation.

Speaking about European Higher Education Week 2026, Julien Guerrier, Ambassador of the European Union to Vietnam, said: “Education is not only about acquiring knowledge. It is also about learning to see the world from different perspectives. Through the Study in Europe Fair, we hope to give young people in Vietnam the opportunity to discover the diversity of European education, ask questions, exchange ideas, and find the path that best suits their aspirations. The connections built through education today will help strengthen the partnership between the European Union and Vietnam in the years to come.”

Admission to the Study in Europe Fair 2026 is free. The Fair will take place at:

Hanoi

Ho Chi Minh City

Further information and programme updates are available on the event website and the European Union in Vietnam Facebook page.

Alongside the Study in Europe Fair, the EU will participate in the International Conference on Education Cooperation in the Digital Era and the Education & EdTech Exhibition (IECEE), organised by Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training in Hanoi on 8–9 October 2026. Through the Higher Education Session and Team Europe Pavilion, the EU will bring together higher education institutions, businesses, public authorities and international partners to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for closer education cooperation between the EU and Vietnam.

EU-Vietnam partnership in education

Education, research and innovation are key areas of the EU–Vietnam partnership and among the priorities of the EU’s Global Gateway strategy. Around 40,000 Vietnamese students are currently studying in EU Member States, accounting for nearly 30% of all Vietnamese students abroad. Between 2004 and 2026, nearly 800 Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters scholarships were awarded to Vietnamese students. Erasmus+ also offers opportunities for students, academic staff and education institutions to study, exchange knowledge and cooperate with partners across Europe.

Cooperation between education institutions in the EU and Vietnam continues to expand. In Vietnam, 65 higher education institutions currently offer around 430 joint training programmes with international partners, approximately half of which involve European universities and organisations.
