State Institutions, Media and Civil Society Organisations Receive the Final Report of the EU EOM Colombia

This week, the European Union Election Observation Mission returned to Colombia to deliver its Final Report with 24 recommendations on electoral matters to strengthen democracy.

The Final Report is a document of almost 100 pages analyzing the entire electoral process the country experienced during 2022 from various perspectives: legislation on electoral issues, political campaigns, the role of the media and social networks, the development of the voting, etc.

To conclude its work in Colombia the Mission delivered this report to various stakeholders in different meetings. The main recipients were:

  • Journalists and media. At a press conference in Bogotá D.C., held on Monday morning, 20 September.
  • President of the Congress of the Republic, Senator Roy Barreras. In a bilateral meeting at the National Capitol on Monday, 20 September at around midday.
  • National Civil Registry, headed by the National Registrar, Alexander Vega, at a meeting at the Registrar's headquarters in Bogotá on Tuesday, 20 September.
  • Ministry of Interior. Meeting with Minister Alfonso Prada at the Ministry's offices in Bogotá on Tuesday, 20 September.
  • Senators and representatives to the Chamber of Deputies, members of the First Permanent Constitutional Commission of the Senate and the Chamber of Representatives at a round table on Wednesday morning, 21 September.
  • National Electoral Council, meeting on Wednesday, 21 September.
  • Ambassadors of the European Union countries in Colombia. Roundtable at the EU Delegation in Bogotá, Thursday, 22 September.
  • Colombian civil society organisations: MOE Colombia, Fundación para la Libertad de Prensa, Transparencia por Colombia and Sisma Mujer. Roundtable in Bogotá, Thursday, 23 September.
  • President of the Republic, Gustado Petro Urrego, in bilateral meeting at the Casas de Nariño in Bogotá, Friday, 23 September.
