The EU EOM Honduras 2025 deployed its 32 long-term observers
The 32 long-term observers (LTOs) of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) were deployed to all departments of Honduras.
The LTOs arrived in Tegucigalpa on 23 October and received four days of training, first on logistical, health and safety issues, and then on the political context, legal and electoral framework and media and social media landscape.
Once on the ground, the LTOs will meet with a wide range of stakeholders, including electoral and political authorities, candidates from different parties, civil society organisations and local media, among others. ‘In the coming days, our observers will maintain various contacts in order to do a good job of observing the elections, which is the reason we are all here in Honduras,’ Francisco Assis, Chief of the EU EOM, explained to the press before their deployment.
The observers will remain in their respective departments until after election day and will send their reports from the field to the mission's analysts in Tegucigalpa.
