EU EOM teams observe the pre-election atmosphere throughout Honduras
In recent days, EU EOM observers have travelled to cities and towns across the country to assess the pre-election atmosphere.
They met with local authorities and candidates for mayor and parliament from across the political spectrum. They observed campaign events such as presidential rallies, marches, and door-to-door activities.
The observers spoke to members of the local electoral councils who are organising these elections, and attended training sessions for staff who will be working at the polling stations.
They also held talks with groups of local observers, learned about the situation of persons with disabilities, members of indigenous associations, and the LGBTI community.
The EU EOM analysts arrived in Honduras on 11 October. At the end of that month, the 32 long-term observers were deployed throughout the country.
On election day, the Mission will be made up of around 120 observers.
