“When a political party criticises the National Electoral Council (CNE) and the Electoral Court (TJE), it is also criticising their members”, said Tania Marques, deputy chief of the European Union Election Observation Mission, in an interview on the television programme HCH Matutino today.

“We are concerned about the paralysis in the institutions, but at the same time we support the CNE and trust in the work they can do. We are also concerned about the institutional functioning of the TJE, how it is preparing for the electoral process and how it will resolve disputes after 30 November”, she explained.

She went on to say that “the CNE and TJE must be allowed to do their work because these elections are for the Honduran people to choose their representatives”.

He also stated that: “the members of the CNE plenary must agree among themselves so that they can organise election day”. On the other hand, he emphasised that: “the TREP is an additional system; what has legal value are the minutes”.

Tania Marques added: “The transparency of the electoral process includes national observers, who play a fundamental role in the elections”.

“The EU EOM is independent of the institutions of the European Union, the EU delegation and the EU Member States”, she added.

“We have met with all the actors directly or indirectly involved in the elections, with the institutions, with the authorities at national level, and in the departments and municipalities through our observers”, stressed the deputy chief of the Mission.

“We have also met with political parties and representatives of Congress, domestic observers, the Supreme Court of Justice and the Attorney General. As observers, we are conducting an analysis, which we will share two days after the #EleccionesGenerales2025,” concluded Tania Marques.
