‘As a Mission, we insist on a electoral process that is as clear as possible for the voter,’ said the deputy head of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM), Tania Marques, on the programme La Tarde on HRN and TSI.

She also stated that ‘we are very interested in the role of national observers: whether civil society participation in the electoral process is respected, whether they will receive their accreditation, whether they will be able to deploy, and whether they face any kind of limitation.’

She also commented that it is important to observe ‘whether there is equal treatment by the institutions towards all candidates and political parties, and whether fundamental freedoms are respected in the electoral campaign and in political participation.’ 

‘On election day, the Mission will also be observing the safety of voters and the confidence that citizens will have in casting their ballots,’ said Tania Marques.
