EU EOM Short-Term Observers arrived on Sunday

On Sunday 24 April, 40 short-term observers from the European Union Election Observation Mission arrived in Asunción as reinforcement for Election Day on 30 April.

After a briefing in the capital, on Wednesday morning, 26th April, they will be deployed to all departments throughout the country, where they will join the mission teams already in place since the end of March.

The mission will also include a delegation from the European Parliament and observers from the embassies of the member states accredited in Paraguay.

For Election Day, the Mission will be composed of 124 observers from EU member states, as well as Norway and Canada.

Following the European Union’s election observation methodology, two days after the elections the mission will issue a preliminary statement to be presented at a press conference in Asunción.
