The European Union Election Observation Mission’s (EUEOM) Chief Observer, Isabel Santos, will issue the preliminary statement of the Mission on November 23rd at 11:00 in Eurobuilding Hotel located in Caracas.
The EUEOM Venezuela 2021 Chief Observer, Isabel Santos, will issue a preliminary statement during a press conference that will be held in Eurobuilding Hotel in Caracas on November 23rd at 11:00 am, where she will be answering all media questions.
Since October 14th, EUEOM has deployed a 14-analyst team, that were joined by 44 Long Term Observers, 34 Short Term Observers, 09 European Parliament members and more than 30 Observers, recruited locally from Diplomatic staff accredited in Venezuela. During the Election Day, EUEOM will have about 130 observers that will visit vote centers in 23 states of the country.
EUEOM is ruled by the “Declaration of Principles for International Electoral Observation” adopted by the UN and by several international entities involved in electoral observation in 2005.
The main objective of the Mission is to observe all aspects related to the electoral process and to evaluate to what extend the elections develop in accordance with the international and regional agreements for electoral processes and with Venezuelan law. The mission arrived in the host country, invited by National Electoral Council (CNE) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
EOM is independent from the EU Delegation in Venezuela, State members and from all EU organizations, in its work and conclusions.
Then, one or two months after the end of the electoral process, Chief Observer returns to the country, accompanied by several EUEOM members to present the final report, incorporating recommendations for future electoral events.
