EUBAM Rafah helps them home

EUBAM Rafah supported the return of 11 young children arriving to Gaza from Egypt through the RCP.

The toddlers were among a group of premature babies evacuated from Shifa Hospital two years ago, following severe damage to the facility. At the time, they were transported to Egypt, and many have remained separated from their families since then.

The passage of these children was treated as a priority, with everything put in place to ensure a smooth transfer passing the border.

EUBAM Rafah facilitated the crossing, in line with its mandate, while Palestinian border staff oversaw this sensitive operation and supported the children throughout the journey.

The children were accompanied by four mothers, one father, and two nurses. Other family members were awaiting their arrival in Gaza.

This operation reflects the continued commitment to facilitating coordinated border movements while supporting humanitarian efforts.

Since operations began on 2 February, a total of 2,069 persons have now crossed through the RCP, comprising 1,026 entries and 1,043 exits, including 370 medical cases.
