Palestinian Border Trainers Strengthen Expertise in Document Security in the Netherlands
From 12 to 15 October, five trainers from the Palestinian General Authority for Borders and Crossings (GABC) in Jericho visited the Netherlands’ Centre of Expertise on Identity Fraud and Documents (ECID) in Amsterdam for a specialised train-the-trainers programme.
The ECID is the central unit within the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (KMar) responsible for combating document and identity fraud. The programme focused on the verification of identity documents and modern security technologies used to identify fraudulent documents.
As part of the visit, the Palestinian delegation also received briefings on the KMar’s border protection activities at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The trainers were introduced to the technologies used at the airport’s border control points, gaining insight into practical approaches to document verification and border controls.
The training forms part of a 2-year joint train-the-trainers programme implemented by the GABC, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee and EUBAM RAFAH. The programme supports the development of professional expertise and sustainable training capacities in border management.
Through this cooperation, participating trainers can further develop their knowledge and skills and contribute to strengthening professional training within the GABC.
