The European Union and hip-hop artist Suboi collaborate to give voice to Vietnam’s clean energy future in new track “The Power”

EU
The European Union (EU) has partnered with renowned Vietnamese hip-hop artist Suboi to launch the I’ve Got the Power campaign in Vietnam, celebrating the strong collaboration between the EU and Vietnam for a greener, sustainable future for all.
The campaign focuses on the shared commitment to sustainable energy and the transformative impact of EU-supported initiatives in Vietnam, which aim to provide renewable solutions for individuals and local communities. It is implemented under the EU’s Global Gateway strategy which is the EU's positive offer to reduce the worldwide investment disparity and boost smart, clean and secure connections in digital, energy and transport sectors, and to strengthen health, education and research systems.
Sharing about the campaign, EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier says: “The transition to renewable energy is not just about reducing carbon emissions; it’s about creating a more sustainable future for the people and economies in Vietnam, and for our shared planet. Through this campaign, we want people to not only understand the importance of sustainable energy but also realize how this transition can positively impact their lives and future.”
Suboi’s track, The Power, produced by Nodey, is the anthem of the campaign, highlighting the potential of clean energy to improve people’s lives and inspiring them to adopt this positive change.
Suboi says, "Sustainable energy isn’t just about technology – it’s about people. I’m proud to collaborate with the European Union and to be part of this innovative campaign that connects sustainability, music, and empowerment for a better future for Vietnam.”
This partnership empowers individuals, like Hanoi-based delivery driver Hải, who could switch to an electric bike, reducing costs and emissions, while improving the efficiency of his business. Tú, a café owner using renewable energy to power her business and saving money. Their stories illustrate how Global Gateway creates a direct positive impact on individuals and small businesses.

ABOUT THE GLOBAL GATEWAY STRATEGY
Global Gateway is the EU’s proposal to deliver sustainable and secure links that work for people and the planet. We want to build clean and green infrastructure bringing lasting benefits without indebting future generations. The Global Gateway strategy embodies a Team Europe approach that brings together the EU, EU Member States, and European development finance institutions. Together, they aim to mobilise up to €300 billion in public and private investments from 2021 to 2027, creating essential links rather than dependencies, and closing the global investment gap. In Vietnam, the Global Gateway strategy is exemplified by projects such as the Tra Vinh Near-Shore Wind Farm; this EU-financed wind farm generates renewable electricity, supplying power to 130,000 people and reducing CO₂ emissions by 70,000 tons annually.
EU-VIETNAM COOPERATION IN GREEN TRANSITION
Since 1990, Vietnam and the European Union have collaborated closely across areas like economic development, trade, sustainable growth, and peacekeeping. Today, the partnership is expanding in renewable energy sectors such as hydropower plants and wind farms, delivering significant benefits for the Vietnamese people. Several key EU-funded projects on these sectors include:
- Bac Ai Pumped Hydro Storage (Ninh Thuan): The first of its kind in Vietnam, stabilising the national grid by storing excess renewable energy and supplying power during peak demand, reducing fossil fuel reliance.
- Tri An Hydropower Plant (Dong Nai): Upgrading to increase capacity and meet growing electricity demand, reduce fossil fuel dependence, and lower carbon emissions while boosting regional economic growth.
- Tra Vinh Wind Farm: Offshore with 12 turbines generating 181 GWh annually, powering ~130,000 people and cutting CO2 emissions by 70,000 tonnes. EU support will help expand it.
