Effective customs controls depend not only on equipment, but also on the ability to process cases securely, share information and coordinate action across services. Two new operational facilities handed over by EUAM RCA to the Central African Directorate-General of Customs will support precisely these objectives.
The keys were officially handed over on 31 July 2026, marking the completion of two projects developed jointly with the Central African authorities—from identifying operational needs to carrying out the works and installing the equipment.
The first facility is a dedicated room for customs officers with judicial police powers. Equipped with IT equipment, furniture and appropriate tools, it will provide a more effective working environment for processing procedures, safeguarding documents, monitoring customs offences and transmitting case files to the competent judicial authorities.
The second is an interoperability space at Port Amont in Bangui. It will provide Customs, Water and Forestry services, the Internal Security Forces and other relevant authorities with a shared setting in which to exchange information, hold coordination meetings and prepare joint operations. It will also support more coordinated and effective integrated controls.
Together, the two facilities give the Directorate-General of Customs practical tools to improve its daily operations and strengthen cooperation with other services contributing to internal security.
Through this initiative, EUAM RCA is supporting stronger governance and transparency, more effective action against trafficking and corruption, and a more coordinated presence of the State.
