During a prison emergency, the ability to communicate quickly and securely is critical. A dedicated radio network supported by EUAM RCA will help penitentiary personnel in Bangui and Bimbo coordinate their response and work more effectively with the Internal Security Forces.
The Minister of Justice, H.E. Dr Arnaud Djoubaye Abazène, officially opened a training session for 20 Ministry of Justice and Penitentiary Administration personnel. The Head of Mission of EUAM RCA welcomed the participants and handed over 11 Motorola radios to support the new communication network.
The radios will serve key officials and operational personnel at the Ngaragba, Camp de Roux and Bimbo detention facilities, as well as the prosecution services in Bangui and Bimbo. By connecting those responsible for managing incidents, the network will facilitate faster information-sharing and more coordinated crisis response.
Led by Colonel Nicaise from the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security, the training combined theoretical guidance on procedures and security requirements with practical exercises. Participants learned how to operate, maintain and safeguard the radios—ensuring that the equipment remains reliable and ready for use.
The session also served as an important refresher following personnel changes within the Ministry of Justice and the Penitentiary Administration. It builds on earlier training and technical work supported by EUAM RCA, including the additional equipment required to bring the system into operation and tests conducted across the connected sites.
The initiative reflects close cooperation between the Ministries of Justice and the Interior and EUAM RCA. By bringing together national expertise, European technical support and practical equipment, the partnership is strengthening prison security, improving interoperability and building a more sustainable national capacity to manage emergencies.
