EUAM RCA and France discuss priorities under the Mission’s fourth mandate

The Head of Mission of EUAM RCA met today with Marie PARET, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of France in the Central African Republic, for an exchange on the Mission’s fourth mandate and its priorities for the period ahead.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the future direction of EUAM RCA’s engagement in support of the Central African authorities, with particular attention to the National Police and Gendarmerie. Discussions also focused on areas where EUAM RCA and France can continue to coordinate their efforts and build on existing cooperation.

As the only EU Member State with an Embassy in Bangui, France is a close and important partner of EUAM RCA. This partnership has already translated into concrete cooperation on several initiatives supporting the professional development and institutional capacities of the Central African Police and Gendarmerie, including joint and complementary training activities.

Against the backdrop of the Mission’s fourth mandate, continued coordination with partners will be important to ensure that international support responds effectively to the priorities and needs of the Central African internal security forces, while avoiding duplication and making the best use of available expertise and resources.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of EUAM RCA and France to maintaining close dialogue and practical cooperation in support of professional, sustainable and effective internal security institutions in the Central African Republic.
