EUAM RCA and MINUSCA reaffirm close cooperation in support of peace and stability in the Central African Republic.

Strong partnerships between international actors remain essential to supporting peace, stability and security in the Central African Republic.

At the invitation of the Portuguese Quick Reaction Force (QRF) contingent deployed within the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), the Head of Mission of EUAM RCA visited the Portuguese Camp in Bangui to meet Lieutenant-Colonel Hélder Clemente Rosa de Brito, incoming Commander of the contingent, and Colonel Adolfo Reis, the outgoing Commander.

The visit provided an opportunity to exchange views on the evolving security environment and to reaffirm the close cooperation between EUAM RCA and MINUSCA in support of the Central African authorities. While MINUSCA contributes to maintaining a secure and stable environment, EUAM RCA supports the strengthening of national security institutions through strategic advice, capacity building and assistance to security sector reform. Together, these complementary efforts contribute to creating the conditions for sustainable peace and long-term stability.

Portugal is currently the only European Union Member State contributing a QRF contingent to MINUSCA. Its continued engagement demonstrates a strong commitment to international peace and security and highlights the close links between European Union action and United Nations peacekeeping efforts in the Central African Republic.

The Head of Mission thanked Colonel Adolfo Reis for his professionalism, dedication and excellent cooperation throughout his deployment. She also welcomed Lieutenant-colonel Hélder Clemente Rosa de Brito and wished him every success in his new responsibilities.

As the Central African Republic continues its efforts to strengthen state institutions and consolidate peace, cooperation between national authorities and international partners remains a key factor in building a safer and more stable future for all Central Africans.
