The Head of Mission of EUAM RCA, Ms. Gail Van Hoever, was received in audience by H.E. Professor Faustin Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic and Head of State, in the presence of the Ambassador of the European Union, Mr. Diego Escalona Paturel. She was received in her capacity as one of the President’s technical advisers on internal security matters.
The meeting highlighted the partnership between the European Union and the Central African Republic, within which EUAM RCA plays a central role as the EU’s civilian mission responsible for strengthening the country’s Internal Security Forces. Discussions focused on the Mission’s technical support to the National Gendarmerie, the National Police, Customs, the Prison Administration and the Ministry of Water, Forests, Hunting and Fishing, as part of the broader process of security-sector reform.
Ms. Van Hoever reaffirmed EUAM RCA’s commitment to working in close cooperation with Central African authorities:
“EUAM RCA remains fully engaged in supporting our partners in strengthening internal security forces, developing professional capacities, reinforcing national ownership and contributing to long-term stability in the Central African Republic.”
H.E. the President welcomed the Mission’s continued engagement and underscored the importance of strong cooperation, structured dialogue and the prospect of reinforcing the Mission’s presence in the country. Both parties reiterated their shared objective of consolidating progress made in the implementation of the Mission’s mandate, strengthening national ownership and enhancing coordination.
This meeting represents an important step in deepening an already constructive and effective collaboration between EUAM RCA and the Central African authorities. It also reaffirms the European Union’s long-standing and unwavering commitment to supporting the Central African Republic.
