EUAM RCA hosts a workshop to validate structuring texts for the National Gendarmerie in the Central African Republic

From January 16 to 20, together with the General Directorate of the National Gendarmerie, EUAM RCA organized a workshop on the validation of draft texts, as part of the Security Sector Reform (SSR) process in CAR.

The goal of this workshop was to allow the Gendarmerie Nationale's executives to re-read the draft texts structuring the organization and functioning of the National Gendarmerie, to discuss them and, if necessary, to make proposals for modification, in order to allow their application as soon as they are signed by the competent authorities.

During the opening ceremony of the workshop at the premises of EUAM RCA, the Ambassador of the European Union to the Central African Republic, Mr. Douglas CARPENTER, emphasized the continued support of the European Union to the Central African Republic, in the context of SSR, and which is part of a partnership approach with EUAM RCA.

During the closing ceremony, and in the presence of the Deputy Director General of the National Gendarmerie, Colonel Martial Simplice MAFOUTAPA, the Head of the EUAM CAR Mission, Mr. José DIAS, concluded these founding and innovating achievements, which will allow the National Gendarmerie to present itself as an essential actor of the internal security of the Central African Republic, by working legally for the tranquility of its fellow citizens.

The exemplary commitment of the officers of the National Gendarmerie and the appropriation of these texts, which they have debated, consolidated and amended, is the best guarantee of the success of the Security Sector Reform (SSR).
