EUAM RCA hosted a five-member delegation from the National Commission on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, including its Vice-President, at its headquarters in Bangui.
The visit took place in the context of ongoing engagement with the Commission and coincided with the presence in Bangui of an EEAS Advisor on Rule of Law and Human Rights. Discussions focused on the Commission’s mandate and its designation as the future National Preventive Mechanism against torture—an important step in strengthening national safeguards against abuse.
EUAM RCA supports this process through targeted advisory and capacity-building activities, addressing key structural and resource challenges and reinforcing coordination with national stakeholders across the security and justice sectors.
By strengthening national oversight mechanisms, EUAM RCA contributes to enhancing accountability within internal security forces and supports the Central African authorities in delivering more transparent, professional and rights-based security services for the population.
