The National Police Steering Committee held a two-day workshop to review the draft decree on the organization and functioning of the General Directorate of the National Police—an important
step towards strengthening internal security in the Central African Republic, notably by clarifying roles, responsibilities and accountability mechanisms, and by supporting a more effective organization of command and coordination chains within the National Police.
Held at EUAM RCA headquarters, the session brought together national authorities and technical and financial partners to review the draft against operational needs and applicable standards.
At the request of the Central African authorities, EUAM RCA provided technical support to this process.
“A clear and robust legal framework is essential to strengthen the capacity of the National Police to ensure the security of the population,” said the Head of Mission.
Following validation, the draft decree will be submitted for approval—marking an important step in strengthening security sector management.
EUAM RCA continues to advise national authorities, at their request, in support of institutional development and accountability.
