Planting together, building for the future: Team Europe joins National Tree and Forest Week

Team Europe joined the Central African Republic’s first National Tree and Forest Week (SNAF) in Bangui, supporting a national effort to protect the country’s forests and natural resources.

The Acting Head of Mission of EUAM RCA, accompanied by the Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation in Bangui, the Mission’s Strategic Adviser on Interoperability – Water and Forests, and several EUAM RCA staff members took part in the initiative, planting trees side by side.

Behind this simple gesture lies a broader message: protecting natural resources is not only an environmental challenge. It also depends on strong institutions, effective coordination and the ability of public services to work together.

This is where the initiative connects with EUAM RCA’s mandate. Through strategic advice on interoperability between the Water and Forests services and other internal security actors, the Mission supports stronger coordination and institutional capacity to help protect the country’s natural resources.

Forests also sustain livelihoods, protect biodiversity and strengthen resilience to the effects of climate change. Their sustainable management matters for communities, the economy and the country’s long-term stability.

By planting together, Team Europe reaffirmed a shared commitment alongside the Central African Republic: stronger institutions, protected natural resources and a safer, more sustainable future.
