As part of its mandate, the European Union Advisory Mission in the Central African Republic (EUAM RCA) continues to support national authorities in strengthening the penitentiary system, in line with international standards and human rights principles. Building on a long-standing and constructive partnership with the Ministry of Justice, EUAM RCA donated 16 cassava milling units, with one unit provided per facility, to penitentiary institutions, marked by a ceremony held with national counterparts.
The equipment will enable the local production of manioc flour in 16 prisons and detention centers, contributing to improved detention conditions and supporting daily penitentiary management. “Through practical cooperation, EUAM RCA supports professional and humane penitentiary services in close coordination with national authorities,” said the Head of Mission of EUAM RCA.
Representing the Minister of Justice, the Head of Mission for Resource Mobilization of the Ministry of Justice thanked EUAM RCA for this additional project, noting that it builds on previous initiatives already implemented and expressing the wish for this fruitful cooperation to continue and further develop.
