Well-trained cadres are a key for the modernization of the security sector in the Central African Republic
To ensure the protection of the population, not only new recruits are needed, but also and above all well-trained cadres. It is in this context that the Central African Police Force organized a series of workshops in Bangui and the provinces with the support of the EUAM RCA Mission.
The aim of the seminar is to remind the operational managers of their responsibilities as leaders and to make them aware of their tasks in areas such as public security, human resources, logistics, finance, intelligence and training.
In addition, it is essential to sensitise them to the notion of interoperability and the necessary coordination between the Central African Police and their institutional partners, such as Justice, Customs and Water and Forests. Themes such as gender equality and human rights are also addressed.
“With these seminars, we are sending out a clear signal: we take our responsibility to protect the population seriously and we have an obligation to constantly strive for greater efficiency in this mission," emphasized the Director General of the Central African Police.
The Central African Republic with roughly the size of France is one of the poorest countries in the world. Half of the population depends on humanitarian aid and a quarter is on the run. This is due to a brutal civil war which lasted for decades and the population still suffers from aggressions of different armed groups. The EUAM RCA Mission supports the reform of the internal security forces so that the state can regain control of the country. At the moment the ISF are mainly based in the capital while the Minusca Mission et the Central African Army secures mainly the provinces.
