Libyan delegation of border guards in Niger

EUBAM Libya appreciates the valuable exchange between the border guards of both countries during a study trip and thanks all involved.

EUBAM Libya, with the support of EUCAP Sahel Niger, organized a visit of a delegation of the Libyan Ministry of Defense (MoD) responsible for Border Management. During the study trip to Niger, a meeting with the Deputy Director of the Nigerien National Police was conducted to enhance successful cooperation.

“We are very pleased to finally be able to implement this visit. Border officials in both countries are confronted with similar constellations in their work. This makes it all the more important for EUBAM Libya to personally exchange experiences”, states EUBAM’s border adviser Davide Silvestri.

During the study trip the Mission is grateful to have the support of EUCAP Sahel Niger, participating experts from EUBAM and the Libyan delegation from the Libyan Ministry of Defense (MoD), responsible for Border management. Insightfully they visited the Mobile Company for Border Control CMCF2 of the Nigerien National Police to research the implementation of similar projects in Libya.

“We also shared a fruitful meeting with the Secretary of the ‘Cadre de concertation permanent sur la Migration’ in Niamey. We had a very positive exchange of information on mobile units for border control with the National Guard of Niger”, emphasizes Jerome Buaillon, EUBAM’s Head of Operations. The study trip ended with an interesting and results-oriented meeting with the Deputy Head of National Police, the Director of Border Surveillance and with colleagues from EUCAP Sahel Niger.
