Rafah crossing reopens with EU Support

The reopening of the Rafah Crossing Point marks a concrete step forward in implementing the Gaza Peace Plan, with the EU’s civilian mission supporting safe and orderly passenger movement.

On 2 February 2026, the Rafah Crossing Point reopened for a controlled number of passengers in both directions in and out of Gaza. This marks a concrete and positive step in line with the Gaza Peace Plan, endorsed by UNSCR 2803 (2025).

The EU’s civilian mission, EUBAM Rafah, is on the ground, monitoring operations and supporting Palestinian border guards. For Gaza’s sick and wounded, this reopening is a true lifeline and it allows families to reunite after far too long apart.

Practical steps like this help move the truce plan forward and must continue.
