“The two-week Judicial Police training course we have just completed covered several judicial subjects related to the diligence of investigations in our various units. Together we looked at the techniques and means of good judicial procedure, and above all at practical case analyses. We would like to thank the EUCAP trainer and our compatriots who shared their experience with us.”

These are the words from one of the 14 gendarmes and police officers who took part in the training course for Judicial Police Officers (JPO) held from 4 to 15 March 2024 at National Police Academy, Bamako, Mali.

The training was co-hosted by two Malian trainers, with the participation of one magistrate from Mali's Supreme Court to exchange views with the JPOs on information sharing and collaboration between the Justice Department and the JPOs in terms of investigations.

“During this 10-day training course, the participating JPOs had the opportunity to review the provisions governing the exercise of the judicial police. In their day-to-day investigative work, investigators face multiple difficulties. And this type of training enables them to review all the procedures related to an investigation, such as findings, searches, questioning, reports, etc." added Mihaela Marin, EUCAP trainer who accompanied the training.
