Women, Peace and Security: EUCAP Reaffirms Its Commitment

Adopted by the United Nations Security Council, Resolution 1325 highlights the essential role of women in conflict prevention and peacebuilding, as well as the importance of their participation in security-related decision-making.

On this occasion, EUCAP Sahel Mali and the Security Sector Governance Centre organised a forum for dialogue bringing together civil society representatives, security forces, the European Union (EU) Delegation and the embassies of EU Member States in Mali. Discussions focused on progress made and challenges remaining in ensuring women's participation in decision-making bodies.

The Mission also raised awareness among its staff about the links between gender, security and climate, reaffirming the importance of an inclusive approach to conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
