On January 21st EUCAP Hargeisa Field Office organised an interactive workshop session that was based on a case study in the field of Maritime Security. This workshop was attended by Prosecutors, Attorney and Deputy Attorney Generals and Coast Guard officers from Somaliland.
The case study explored by the Somaliland attendees touched upon a number of subject matters including: The Chain of Prosecution, chain of custody, police investigation, carrying out arrests, and the execution of search and seizure warrants.
The aim of the exercise was to improve the cooperation between Maritime Law Enforcement Agencies and the Attorney General’s Office in Somaliland.
Broadly speaking, a more secure and safe environment is a pre-requisite for attracting investments and to enable the economy to properly develop.
