EUCAP police experts support handcuff workshop for Somaliland Coast Guard

Our coast guard police experts in our Hargeisa field office have this month supported a handcuff workshop for Somaliland Coast Guard officers, which demonstrated how to ensure security and safety of detainees when using handcuffs, proper technique, how to carry out a threat assessment and the proportionate use of force when carrying out detentions. EUCAP also handed over practice training weapons to support the Coast Guard’s law enforcement practical training exercises. The workshop and practice weapons handover are part of EUCAP’s ongoing assistance to maritime security and development of the Somaliland Coast Guard.
