EUCAP Somalia facilitates discussion on women inclusion and participation in the Somali Police Force

In its efforts to support the strengthening of Somali security institutions, EUCAP Somalia also actively contributes to enhancing women’s inclusion and participation in the Somali Police Force.
An in-depth discussion was hosted by the Mission’s Gender Adviser.

20 female Federal Darwish trainees and three female local trainers discussed gender equality and women’s participation in security sector reform. This session marked the end of a series of participatory meetings on the topic. The objective of these sessions was to enhance the women’s self-confidence and leadership skills, to strengthen the foundations of their position and work as security and law enforcement officers. The participants also benefited from an experience-sharing on community policing offered by the Head of Community Policing at the Somali Police Commission.

EUCAP Somalia remains committed to promoting and embedding gender equality horizontally throughout its programmes and activities.
