EUCAP Somalia Head of Mission meets Somali Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Resources
The newly appointed Somali Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Resources (MoFMR) Abdullahi Bidhan Warsame met with EUCAP Somalia’s Head of Mission (HoM) Maria-Cristina Stepanescu in Mogadishu on August 25th .
“EUCAP Somalia wishes to play a part in making the nexus between security and economic development a successful story in Somalia” said the Head of Mission.
Future support to the Somali Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Resources Development Strategy was among the topics discussed. The HoM also outlined the scope of activities deployed under the mandate of the Mission, stressing the importance of common work for the good of maritime security in Somalia.
Minister Warsame expressed interest in establishing a working relationship with EUCAP Somalia, particularly with regards to strategic advice in implementing and harmonising legislation.
EUCAP Somalia Deputy Head of Mission Keith Murray and a Senior Legal Advisor Christiaan Moll, as well as a Senior Adviser to the Minister, Ahmed Mathobe, also participated the meeting.
