EUCAP Somalia’s Field Office Puntland recently delivered the 9th seminar of its one-year training curriculum for Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF) Commanders, focusing on Search and Rescue at Sea (SAR).
Held from 19 September to 1 October, the training brought together 16 PMPF Commanders for a combination of classroom learning and practical exercises at sea.
Participants covered navigation and chart work, SAR mission and on-scene coordination, legal frameworks, human rights, and considerations for refugees and migrants during SAR operations.
The course culminated in two days at sea, where participants put their knowledge into practice, operating boats and conducting exercises including man-overboard manoeuvres.
