Somaliland Coast Guard Mobile Training Unit receives training on oil spill prevention and environmental protection

Field Office Somaliland recently supported the Somaliland Coast Guard (SLGC) Mobile Training Unit in delivering a specialized training on oil spill prevention and environmental protection.

Fourteen officers from Berbera, Zaylac, Maydh and Hargeisa participated in both theoretical and practical sessions to strengthen their ability to respond to environmental incidents. During the training, they practiced techniques for securing contaminated areas and safely collecting oil spills using professional equipment previously donated by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB).

This initiative further enhances the SLCG’s capacity to protect Somaliland’s coastline and marine environment.
