EU High Representative Kaja Kallas visits EUMA headquarters

On 29 June EUMA had the honour of welcoming EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas to our headquarters in Yeghegnadzor. HR/VP was briefed on the Mission’s activities and developments on the ground. She also had the opportunity to meet and engage with EUMA mission members.

Head of EUMA, Markus Ritter said:

''We were extremely delighted and honoured to host HR/VP at our headquarters and to showcase the Mission’s ongoing efforts in promoting peace and stability in the region.''

The Council of the European Union extended EUMA’s mandate on January 30, 2025 for the period from 20 February 2025 until 19 February 2027. EUMA's second mandate will involve up to 225 personnel including 166 international and 59 local staff. EUMA observers and civilian experts come from 25 EU Member States and the Third Contributing State Canada.

EUMA is deployed on the Armenian side of the international border with Azerbaijan. EUMA Headquarters is located in Yeghegnadzor, with six Forward Operating Bases in Yeghegnadzor, Jermuk, Martuni, Kapan, Goris and Ijevan. The Mission also has a liaison office in Yerevan. EUMA is exclusively deployed and operating within the internationally recognised territory of Armenia.
