Maputo, Mozambique – The 3rd Quick Reaction Force (QRF) of the Navy Marines of the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM), conducted its Final Exercise as part of the regeneration cycle supported by the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ).

The exercise marked a decisive stage in the force preparation process, allowing the skills developed throughout the regeneration period to be assessed in an operational context. The activity focused on the planning and execution of an amphibious raid operation, integrating different capabilities essential to the 3rd QRF’s operational effectiveness, in the Northern Theatre of Operations, in Cabo Delgado.

During the exercise, the Navy Marines carried out reconnaissance of the objective area, riverine patrols, the establishment of checkpoints, security and defence of the Forward Operating Base (FOB), as well as the coordination of naval assets and the logistical support required to conduct operations.

The exercise involved a Mozambican Air Force aircraft and Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) military personnel, ensuring effective integration between the air and ground components and enabling a faster, more coordinated and more effective response in support of forces on the ground.

More than an assessment of capabilities, this exercise represented a moment of consolidation of the skills acquired, putting to the test the force’s command and control capacity, coordination, discipline, cohesion and operational readiness.

By supporting this process, EUMAM MOZ continues to contribute to the sustainable strengthening of FADM capabilities, promoting the development of more autonomous, prepared and capable forces to face the conflict in Cabo Delgado.

This activity is part of the European Union’s continued commitment to supporting Mozambique in strengthening its defence capabilities through specialised training, mentoring and assistance focused on operational readiness and the security of the population.
