EUMAM MOZ and FADM strengthen cooperation in the logistics sector

25.02.2026 EUMAM Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique – This morning, 25 February, at the Headquarters of the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ), was held a meeting between representatives of the Mission and the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM), dedicated to consolidating the new FADM Logistics Concept.

The meeting was attended by the Mission Force Commander, Commodore César Pires Correia, and the Director of Logistics of the FADM, Brigadier General Elias Mataruca, and focused on the final harmonisation phase of a key document aimed at modernising the Armed Forces’ logistic support system.

More than a technical instrument, the Logistic Concept stands as a strategic pillar for process optimisation, resource rationalisation and the enhancement of the Quick Reaction Forces’ (QRFs) responsiveness, within an increasingly demanding and evolving operational environment.

The meeting further strengthened the ongoing cooperation between EUMAM MOZ and the FADM through the designation of Points of Contact (POC) and a commitment to establish specialised working groups responsible for studying and implementing new procedures. This coordination aims to ensure greater coherence and interoperability among logistic structures, thereby reinforcing the efficiency of support to operations, regeneration and QRF training.

Within its current mandate, EUMAM MOZ supports the FADM QRFs in consolidating a sustainable operational cycle until June 2026. The European Union and Mozambique maintain a longstanding partnership across several domains, including the security and defence sector. Close cooperation between the Republic of Mozambique and the European Union will continue to strengthen, with the full support of Mozambican authorities for the success of EUMAM MOZ and for the consolidation of peace, stability in the country, and a safe and secure environment for the populations of Cabo Delgado.
