EUMAM MOZ concludes lecture series on Gender Equality and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda
The activity reinforced that gender equality is an essential element of military professionalism, operational effectiveness, and institutional resilience within the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM), contributing to more inclusive decision-making and improved mission performance.
During the session, participants deepened their understanding of gender-based violence, its operational and social impacts, as well as the legal and institutional mechanisms for prevention, protection, and accountability. Cultural factors, stereotypes, and institutional barriers were also discussed, highlighting the importance of leadership, continuous education, and effective reporting mechanisms.
The Women, Peace and Security Agenda demonstrated that integrating a gender perspective strengthens the capacity of defence institutions to respond to contemporary challenges and promotes equal rights, responsibilities, and opportunities for all military personnel.
EUMAM MOZ’s continued support for these initiatives contributes to the institutional development of the FADM, in line with European Union values and the principles of International Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda.
