04.06.2026 EUMAM Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique – The Forces Armées de la Zone Sud de l’Océan Indien (FAZSOI) are collaborating with the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) in the framework of specialised training for the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM).

In this context, and in coordination with EUMAM MOZ, FAZSOI are providing support through Mobile Training Teams (MTT), which will conduct training activities at the Maintenance and Workshops Centre (CMO) of the FADM, in Maputo, and at the Katembe Training Camp.

The training focuses on essential areas aimed at strengthening the technical and operational capabilities of the FADM, namely vehicle maintenance and tactical procedures for countering improvised explosive devices, through the Vehicle Maintenance Course and the Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) Tactical Course. The training will take place from 1 to 19 June.

EUMAM MOZ, 2025

Initiated during the European Union Training Mission in Mozambique (EUTM MOZ) in 2021, the collaboration between EUMAM MOZ, FAZSOI and the FADM has played an important role in enhancing operational capabilities on the ground, particularly through the training of Quick Reaction Forces (QRF) and the sharing of technical expertise in key areas for operational effectiveness.

This joint effort reflects the commitment of the European Union and France to strengthening Mozambique’s capabilities, contributing to the promotion of security, stability and the operational effectiveness of the FADM in the fight against the insurgency in Cabo Delgado.
