EUMAM MOZ joins World Cleanup Day in Maputo

The initiative, organised by the Repensar association, brought together different institutions, organisations and volunteers in a joint effort to raise environmental awareness and protect public spaces. Volunteers from EUMAM MOZ participated in the collection of waste along the coastline, contributing to a cleaner city and promoting environmentally responsible behaviour.

The initiative was supported and attended by several public and private institutions, including the Ministry of Land and Environment, the Maputo Municipal Council and the Delegation of the European Union to Mozambique (EUDEL).

World Cleanup Day is a global movement that seeks to mobilise communities around environmental protection, promoting concrete actions for clean-up, awareness and behavioural change.

EUMAM MOZ’s participation in this initiative reflects the Mission’s commitment to maintaining close ties with Mozambican society. EUMAM MOZ underlines that its mission goes beyond the operational level, reflecting an ongoing commitment to proximity, support and cooperation with the people of Mozambique.

As a non-executive European Union mission, EUMAM MOZ provides mentoring and advice to the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM), contributing to the development of their capabilities and greater autonomy in carrying out their responsibilities.

The participation of EUMAM MOZ volunteers in World Cleanup Day 2026 demonstrates that the Mission’s commitment to Mozambique is also reflected through participation in initiatives that bring its personnel closer to local communities and contribute to a more sustainable future.
