EUMAM MOZ strengthens community ties through solidarity activity at the AACOSIDA Orphanage
The initiative aimed to reinforce the Mission’s institutional connection with the local community and to promote engagement with the children hosted by the orphanage. Throughout the morning, EUMAM MOZ personnel organised traditional games and shared moments of interaction, providing a special and memorable day for around 100 children.
The activity was supported by Hotel Cardoso, which provided a snack for the children, an essential contribution to the success of the initiative and to creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment.
Acts such as this strengthen bonds of cooperation, humanity and hope, demonstrating that EUMAM MOZ’s presence in Mozambique extends beyond institutional capacity-building to fostering close and meaningful engagement with local communities.
AACOSIDA is a national Mozambican Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) dedicated to work for the full integration of Mozambican orphans with HIV/AIDS into their communities. This NGO takes in nearly 100 children with ages between three and 18 years old, 61 of them are school age.
EUMAM MOZ continues to operate in full compliance with International Humanitarian Law, International Human Rights Law and the Women, Peace and Security agenda. The Mission is currently commanded by Commodore César Pires Correia of the Portuguese Navy and comprises more than 80 military and civilian personnel from 12 nationalities. Its mandate runs until June 2026.
