Katembe, Mozambique – The European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) is continuing its Train-the-Trainers programme in close cooperation with the Mozambican Armed Defence Forces (FADM). The current phase of mentoring is taking place in Katembe and focuses specifically on Riverine Operations, a crucial element for operational performance in Mozambique's geographical context.

Riverine Operations require rigorous technical and physical preparation, covering key areas such as rowing embarkation and disembarkation, boat capsizing drills, and utility swimming. These skills are essential to ensuring the mobility, safety, and operational effectiveness of military forces in aquatic environments, which are characteristic of many regions of Mozambique.

The Train-the-Trainers programme aims to develop the pedagogical skills of the participants, enabling them to deliver similar courses independently in the future. This contributes to greater sustainability and self-sufficiency in Mozambique’s military training system.

The focus on Riverine Operations reflects the shared commitment of EUMAM MOZ and the FADM to strengthening technical and operational capabilities. It forms part of a broader, ongoing effort to ensure security and control in the country’s strategic areas.
