EUMAM MOZ strengthens ties with local communities through activity in Macaneta
The activity was attended by the Mission Force Commander, Brigadier General Sérgio Estrela, and aimed primarily to support the social and community activities carried out by REPENSAR through the donation of food and essential goods for children and families benefiting from the organisation’s programme. The initiative also received support from VUMBA and Hotel Cardoso, whose contributions helped enhance the assistance provided to the community.
During the visit, EUMAM MOZ personnel also had the opportunity to learn about REPENSAR’s projects in environmental education, community development and the promotion of sustainable practices. The programme included time spent with the children and recreational activities on the beach, fostering an atmosphere of sharing and interaction among participants.
European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique, 2026
Although EUMAM MOZ’s primary focus is to provide military assistance to the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM), initiatives such as this help deepen the Mission’s understanding of the social context in which it operates, strengthen ties with local communities, and promote relationships of trust and cooperation between the population and international partners.
These initiatives reflect the European Union’s integrated approach in Mozambique, combining support for the FADM with engagement with local organisations and communities, fostering relationships based on trust, mutual exchange and closer ties.
