European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique ends 2025 having capacity-built more than 800 Mozambican military personnel

Maputo, Mozambique - The European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) concludes the year of 2025 with the implementation, in close collaboration with the Mozambican Armed Defence Forces (FADM), of 36 specialised training programmes involving more than 800 Mozambican military personnel.

These activities, delivered through an integrated approach, included programmes in areas such as Command and Control, Logistics, Training of Trainers for Quick Reaction Force (QRF) instructors, Maintenance and Transport, Leadership, Military Pedagogy, Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC), Strategic Communication, and Institutional Advising to the General Staff of FADM.

During 2025, essential programmes were also launched to ensure the logistical sustainability of the assets provided under the European Peace Facility (EPF).

EUMAM MOZ is a non-executive mission whose objective is to assist the FADM in developing capabilities to ensure that they can implement and sustain the operational employment cycle of the QRF, thus contributing to the stability and development of Cabo Delgado province, in full respect of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law. 

The European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique is currently led by Commodore César Pires Correia, from the Portuguese Navy, and includes 83 military personnel from 12 nationalities. The EUMAM MOZ mandate runs until June 2026.
