Katembe hosts ceremony marking the completion of the regeneration cycle of the 1st QRF of the FADM Commandos
The ceremony marked the culmination of a period of preparation aimed at strengthening the individual and collective capabilities of the personnel of the 1st QRF of the Commandos, promoting cohesion, readiness and the force’s ability to respond effectively.
The event was presided over by the Commander of the Army Branch of the FADM, Major General André Rafael Mahunguane, who highlighted the importance of completing this regeneration cycle for maintaining the operational capabilities of the 1st QRF of the FADM Commandos.
Throughout the cycle, the personnel took part in various training, mentoring and supervision activities, supported by EUMAM MOZ. The process aimed to consolidate knowledge and enhance techniques and procedures essential to the employment of a Quick Reaction Force.
European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique, 2026
The preparation covered areas including pedagogical training, Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs), Communications, Close Quarter Battle (CQB), Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), AKM and Dragunov marksmanship, Tactical Site Exploitation (TSE) and Prisoner Handling, among other components relevant to operational preparation.
An important part of the cycle focused on developing collective capabilities, strengthening coordination, teamwork, discipline and the integrated application of the knowledge acquired.
The process culminated in a final exercise, during which the personnel of the 1st QRF of the Commandos were required to apply, in an operational scenario, the skills developed throughout the cycle. The exercise assessed the force’s ability to plan, coordinate and execute tasks, while also testing leadership, decision-making, physical and psychological resilience, and the ability to respond to different situations.

Through continuous support, EUMAM MOZ assisted FADM personnel and instructors in consolidating knowledge and enhancing procedures, contributing to the progressive development of national capabilities and greater autonomy in the preparation and employment of the force.
The completion of this cycle represents another step towards strengthening the readiness, cohesion and autonomy of Mozambican forces, contributing to a more effective response to current security challenges, particularly in the operational context of Cabo Delgado.
