Liaison Officer at EUMAM MOZ

The Liaison Officer (LNO) is responsible for facilitating the communication and the coordination between European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) Headquarters and other key actors operating within both the area of influence and the area of operations. This role ensures close collaboration with European Union (EU) agencies and other stakeholders to align EUMAM MOZ activities with the overarching cooperation objectives and EU policies in the region.

A primary focus of the LNO is the engagement with the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM). The LNO plays a crucial role in establishing and maintaining effective coordination with the Mozambican military structure, fostering mutual trust and confidence—key elements in the relationship between EUMAM MOZ and the FADM.

Key Responsibilities of the LNO: 

  1. Acting as the primary liaison for coordinating mission affairs with the Mozambican military structure. 

  2. Engaging with relevant international stakeholders, including Mozambique’s partner countries and international organisations involved in regional security and defence initiatives. 

  3. Facilitating bi-directional communication to ensure the effective coordination of the Quick Reaction Forces and other support elements for EUMAM MOZ operations. 

  4. Serving as the designated Point of Contact for exchanging critical information with key stakeholders. 

  5. Support of EUMAM's Military Information activities, promote a clear perception of the Mission among these stakeholders.

In support of the Mission Force Commander, the LNO also conducts a comprehensive assessment based on interactions with various actors. This assessment helps identify factors that may influence mission success, ensuring that strategic objectives remain aligned with evolving operational dynamics.
