Mozambican Defence Armed Forces practice Close Air Support (CAS) missions with EUMAM MOZ support

Manhiça, Mozambique – This week the military personnel from the Tactical Control Air Party (TACP) of the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM), practiced Close Air Support missions in the Army Training School, in the district of Manhiça, with support of the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ).

A military member from the Advisory Group of the EUMAM MOZ, coming from the TACP of the Portuguese Air Force, guided and mentored a set of training missions with the military members of the FADM.

Testing different situations that can happen in an operational scenario, the group applied different techniques that contribute to air power application in support of land operations. The exercise counted as well with the participation of an aircraft from the Mozambican Air Force. 

One member from the Mozambican TACP team highlighted the importance of this support provided by militaries of the EUMAM MOZ, saying that the goods scenarios trained “helped a lot and refresh the members that weren`t use to put to test in a long time”.

EUMAM MOZ is a non-executive mission with a mandate until June 2026. It focuses on the operational training cycle and maintenance, while also providing specialised training to the FADM. This European Union mission includes military personnel from 11 nationalities.
