EUPM Moldova Head of Mission Received by President Maia Sandu

Kirsten Joppe, Head of the European Union Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova (EUPM Moldova), was honoured to be received today by the President of the Republic of Moldova, for a courtesy meeting following her appointment as Head of Mission on 25 April 2026.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the excellent cooperation between EUPM Moldova and the Republic of Moldova, as well as the Mission's commitment to continue supporting Moldova's efforts to strengthen its resilience. 

During the discussions, the Head of Mission presented EUPM Moldova's ongoing activities in support of Moldovan institutions, including efforts aimed at enhancing resilience, strengthening crisis management capacities and addressing hybrid threats. The exchange also underscored the importance of continued cooperation in addressing evolving security challenges.

The Head of Mission expressed her appreciation for the close partnership with the Moldovan authorities and reiterated EUPM Moldova's commitment to supporting the country's security and resilience objectives in line with the European Union's broader support for the Republic of Moldova.

Background

EUPM Moldova is a civilian, non-executive mission established under the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy. It provides strategic advice and support in areas such as crisis management and hybrid threats, including cybersecurity, and countering foreign information manipulation and interference. Over the past three years, this has contributed to strengthening Moldova’s security framework and aligning it with EU standards.
