The EU Council launched the EU Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova (EUPM Moldova) on 22 May under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) to enhance the resilience of the security sector in the country.

This is an exclusively civilian mission. The Head of Mission, Kirsten Joppe, is a German national with a long-standing career in CSDP missions and international security.
